Creation of Caithness Pubwatch Scheme

Summary of idea

We are looking to relaunch Pubwatch in Caithness with an aim to reduce serious incidents in the night time trade. To achieve this we plan to streamline and build up the membership of Pubwatch as well as improve the efficiency when dealing with bans and incidents. Starting with Thurso, but in the long term expanding into other areas.

This will encourage membership of 'Best Bar None' which will further enhance the safety and enjoyment of the towns night time hospitality. To achieve this we have the following actions:

  1. Develop and formalise Pubwatch constitution and CIC registration
  2. Invest in scheme link sharing of information and urgent communication between members and police
  3. Build and promote a public face of pubwatch including updated signage and information regarding membership - 'printing credit' for each venue to select tailored posters and signage
  4. Provide contribution towards the commencement of the use of SIA door security at peak times at strategic locations about the town over the busiest festive period.

This project will strengthen Pubwatch in the community in it's overall aim of promoting safe night time hospitality by building public confidence and reducing serious incidents causing public nuisance.

  • We are using stars to cast votes and you have a maximum of five stars for each idea
  • The more stars you give an idea, the more you support it
  • For example, if you really like an idea and want it to receive funding, you could give it five stars
  • You don't have to vote for everything but we would encourage you to explore all ideas
  • The ideas that receive the most votes will be successful until all of the £32,000 is spent.
