KidzRok

Organisation: Rokzkool Academy

Unfortunately, this organisation was not successful

We run a variety of music and art classes for children and young people with a focus on having fun, social skills and building confidence.  At Rokzkool, the children get to experiment with a wide range of instruments, learn songs and explore rhythm and percussion.  In the Art club, they develop pieces on a chosen theme and explore a range of different media.

We want to offer free places to young people who are looking for a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where they can be creative.

They would benefit hugely from the Rokzkool experience as our classes focus on developing confidence, trust, social skills and a sense of belonging and this is exactly what children need.

As our studio looks and feels very different to other services, young people who like to be creative (and noisy!) can find a place where they belong and can be free to express themselves.

We want the sessions to be a highlight of their week and give them something to look forward to where they can thrive and have positive interactions with other young people and supportive adults.

To further support them, we would also offer them free membership to our ‘Rokzkool Library’ where they can borrow instruments and online resources to learn to play at home.

The funding would enable us to offer free places for children and young people from Merkinch and South Kessock plus an ongoing relationship through the instrument library and a regular free drop-in session.

Amount requested: £5,000.

Why the contribution is important

We believe in the power of music and creativity to help young people build their confidence, develop their social skills and unleash their potential.

By offering the classes and ongoing use of the instruments, young people can discover their passions and this gives them determination and pride in their achievements. It can open the door to a new hobby where they can apply themselves and work hard towards a goal.  We want this opportunity to be available to everyone, without cost being a barrier and this would enable us to provide this free of charge for children and young people from Merkinch and South Kessock.

We have classes available for primary and secondary children.  Many of our older students volunteer beyond the classes and register for the Saltire Awards to get recognition of their volunteering hours with additional training and opportunities for them to develop.

At Rokzkool, we are keen to support young people in any way we can and are ready to create opportunities for them to enable them to thrive.  Once they are part of the Rokzkool family, we can build a relationship where we can support them and also signpost other services and support where required.

  • Learning and activities in the local community
  • Create safe spaces, more things to do and more choices.

How to vote

  • You must first register or log in to be able to vote - you can do this in the menu bar at the top
  • Please vote for any projects/applications as you would like to - please have a look at all of them
  • We are using stars to cast votes and you have a maximum of five stars for each idea
  • The more stars you give an idea, the more you support it
  • For example, if you really like an idea and want it to receive funding, you could give it five stars
  • You don't have to vote for anything but we would encourage you to explore all ideas
  • The ideas that receive the most votes will be successful until all of the £30,000 is spent.

A great opportunity for local children and families.

I have witnessed the benefits of children and parents who become part of this organisation.
Pupils feel they belong, building confidence, resilience and have a sense of purpose.

Many parents who become involved through volunteering have gone on to part time employment, further education and feel part of a trusted safe environment where they andctheir children can flourish.

    A feeling of belonging.

I feel incredibly fortunate that my daughter has joined RokzKool, she is flourishing in such a nurturing environment.
Since starting, my daughter has not only grown in confidence but has also made wonderful new friends, which has been a joy to witness.
I am deeply impressed by the variety of activities and resources available, all of which have contributed to my daughters overall development. She especially values the supportive and caring staff who have gone above and beyond to ensure every child feels welcomed and engaged.
I consider RokzKool a blessing, offering my daughter opportunities that are truly making a positive impact on her young life.

I am thrilled to now volunteer with RokzKool, it has not only been incredibly welcoming but has also made me feel like a true part of the community.
After seeing how much my daughter flourished after joining, i felt inspired to get involved.
Volunteering has given me a deeper appreciation for the dedication and passion that goes into every aspect of RokzKool.
Being part of this wonderful team has been a rewarding experience, and I am grateful to contribute to a place that has had such a positive impact on my life and on so many other people on a daily basis.

Rokzkool provides confidence comfort and opportunity to many young people seeking to find their place in society. The Charity is based upon precept and example and the volunteers running the organization are both empathetic and professional. A very valuable asset to our community and especially to our young people.
