Provide victims with safe reporting routes and processes

  • Ensure that the reporting process offers a safe and comfortable environment for all victims.
  • If possible, have female officers available for women reporting incidents of violence. For deaf women, provide female interpreters and if possible, provide access to interpreters from outside of the local community to ensure anonymity.
  • Explore options for discreet reporting processes (apps, online etc.).
  • Improve coordination between public and third sector partners to prevent re-traumatisation, build trust and encourage victims to come forward. Local leads and community policing are key to partnership working and sharing of information/intelligence (Review the process of rotating staff within specialist or liaison roles).
